Street fights tend to be dangerous. People are inclined to take violence further. Confrontations can devolve into brutal beatings with life-changing consequences.

Many martial arts systems, both traditional and modernized, are good for physical and mental wellbeing, although much of the technical skill taught in these systems rely on strict adherence to sport related rules and constraints, thus restraining the practitioner to a technical basis with limited effectiveness in the real world.
